About the Board of Trustees
The Chappaqua Library is governed by five trustees, all unpaid volunteers, who are elected by the Chappaqua Central School District community to serve three-year terms.* The Library Board of Trustees meets monthly and more frequently as needed. The Library complies with New York State Open Meetings Law. Public questions or comments are encouraged to be submitted prior to the Board meeting.
*Update 1/22/2024:
Commencing with the 2024 Annual Election, the term of office for each Trustee shall be three (3) years, each term to begin on July 1 following the Annual Election. (Section 260 subdivision 2 of the Education Law.) Those Trustees who have been elected to five-year terms prior to 2024 shall be entitled to serve out the remainder of their full five-year term. No trustee shall hold office for more than one (1) full five-year term or two (2) full three-year terms. (Section 255 of the Education Law.)

The Chappaqua Library is governed by five trustees, all unpaid volunteers, who are elected by the Chappaqua Central School District community to serve three-year terms (prior to the coming 2024 election, the Library Board trustees were elected to serve 5-year terms).
Interested candidates submit a petition of signatures to the Chappaqua Central School District office by April. Elections are held in May and new terms begin at the start of the fiscal year in July.
