Chappaqua Library Building Conditions Assessement

Posted on:

Last year, the Library hired Lothrop and Associates, to do a full Building Conditions Assessment. The current library building is almost 50 years old and as stewards of this building, we wanted to be able to anticipate, identify and prioritize projects that will likely need attention in the coming years. Lothrop and their representatives had full access to architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems and were escorted through the building by our facility manager, who  has been overseeing these systems for many years.

Lothrop and Associates presented their findings at the January Library Board Meeting and the Board is currently discussing next steps. The Library is committed to being fiscally responsible and wants to explore all options before any decisions are made about the building.

In the spirit of full transparency, the assessment is being posted on our website so that our community can see in detail what the Library is reviewing and discussing.

You may access the buildings condition assessment here.

Please feel free to reach out to Library Director, Jennifer Daddio, at any time with questions.
